To think that Alice in Wonderland is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year is mind-boggling. There have been many exhibitions, books and shows dedicated to the Queen of Play and justifiably so, as this is one of these timeless tales that will always delight. Whether you are 8 or 80.
No shows comes close to delighting more than the excellent Adventures in Wonderland, currently showing in London. It is a truly magical experience because you are in turns the protagonist and the spectator. You are guided underground in a maze of scenes all lavishly dressed and all pertaining to the most iconic chapters of the book (and some extras too!). You get to meet the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, Twindle Dee Twindle Dum, Humpty Dumpty, Alice herself and many others.
We went one Sunday morning to the kids show and had a fabulous time. It is raucous, beautifully executed and such a joy to experience. It is completely unpredictable, which makes you feel in a constant state of wonderment, whether you are 8 or 80! If you don't have kids, don't worry, there is a grown-up version too, called Alice’s Adventures Underground, which promises to be as equally as enchanting.
